Although PID tuning for DC drives is widely studied, a structured, practical guide addressing robustness and setpoint tracking/disturbance rejection trade-offs is still lacking. This paper condenses established methods into a clear, step-by- step approach for optimal PID tuning using Garpinger’s trade- off plots, aiming at practical use in industrial applications.
